Why AI MDVR with BSD and 360 Panoramic View is Crucial for Vehicle Surveillance?

The Blind Spot Detection (BSD) feature not only records video evidence of accidents caused by blind spots but also helps to minimize the risk of such accidents occurring.

Auxiliary effects on driver’s decision.

When the driver presses the turn signal (left or right), the vehicle's MDVR automatically switches to the BSD channel and shows live video on the full 7-inch screen. (This is triggered by an I/O sensor connected to the vehicle's signal line during the MDVR installation. )

Anti-speeding technology - The Blind Spot Detection

This allows the driver to quickly check the display for any moving pedestrians or vehicles in the blind spot before making a steering maneuver.

Warning effect on pedestrians:

If a person or vehicle is detected in the blind spot, the BSD alarm buzzer will immediately sound and flash, alerting those in the blind area to the vehicle's steering intentions, helping to prevent accidents caused by blind spots.

Most standard 360-degree panorama products on the market have low resolutions, such as VGA 640x480 or 700TVL, and the four camera images are displayed separately without video recording capabilities. In contrast, our AI-MDVR offers a 360-degree view using four 180-degree wide-angle 1080p AHD cameras, providing a comprehensive view around the vehicle on the monitor. It also supports real-time video recording through the AI-MDVR system and allows users to configure each channel to automatically display on the monitor based on the vehicle type, thanks to the 8-sensor I/O trigger feature.

What is Blind Spot Detection (BSD) ?

What is Blind Spot Detection (BSD) ?

Blind Spot Detection assists the drivers to avoid a collision by detecting people in the blind spot area when driving.

Commercial vehicles are big and often suffer from very poor visibility, despite being generously equipped with mirrors. Almost invariably, the driver cannot see important areas beside the vehicle. The Mobile DVR with such AI functionality enable the Blind Spot Detection using cameras mounted at the side of the cabin to monitor the detection zone for people. The system warns the driver if people is approaching, thereby assisting the driver to avoid hitting the people.

How many types of alarms of Blind Spot Detection (BSD) ?

There 6 types of alarm of BSD (Blind Spot Detection):

1. Beware of the large vehicles. (*The lowest level 1, it means there is a certain distance between the people and the vehicle.)

2. Keep distance from vehicles. (*The middle level 2, it means the people is approaching to the vehicle.)

3. Danger, danger! (*The highest level, it means the people is very close to the vehicle.)

4. Vehicle turns right, be aware.

5. Vehicle turns left, be aware.

6. Vehicle starts to move, be aware.

The above alarms will be broadcasted aloud over the Visual-audible buzzer with illumination mounted at the side of the cabin to give alerts to people.

Blind spot detection for Dump truck

Blind spot detection background

A dump truck is used for transporting materials (such as dirt, gravel, or demolition waste) for construction as well as coal. The same as other heavy-duty commercial vehicles, they may all face the same risk---blind spot.

Why the blind spot is dangerous? Generally, the vehicles in front of or right behind the driver are visible in the mirrors. when a car passes into an area where it is not visible in either the rear-view mirror or the side mirror, it is difficult for a driver to be aware that there is a car in close. At this time, when the driver changes lanes believing the lane next to them is empty, then the tragedy happened, it is too close to avoid the collision.

Almost all vehicles are with blind spots and the situation to dump trucks is even severe, since the large size and height make it very difficult for the driver to be able to see the full length of the vehicle. Eliminating the risk of blind spots for dump trucks is vital.

ICARVISIONS AI solution with Blind Spot Detection

Thanks to Artificial Intelligence, Icarvisions offers an AI solution with Blind Spot Detection to help dump trucks with safe driving. The Blind Spot Detection solution is based on the Mobile DVR with a built-in AI algorithm, once the dump truck and mobile DVR are on, the blind spot camera captures the pedestrian and vehicles in the blind spot area, it will trigger the Audio& Visual Alarm to emit a sound and flash alarm or voice prompt immediately, to warn pedestrian and vehicles to keep away of the dump truck.

ICARVISIONS launched 4 AI Mobile DVRs:

4ch IP67 MINI AI MDVR(JH0AN-HD)

4ch SD Card AI MDVR(JS2AN-HD)

4ch HDD AI MDVR(JH4AN-HD)

8ch HDD AI MDVR(JH8AN-HD)

all support the Blind Spot Detection.

The blind spot cameras and Audio& Visual Alarm have to work together with BSD built-in AI mobile DVR.

Model: JA-MC804

1080P AHD camera, 2.1mm lens; Support 12V DC ±10%

Installation site: mounted at the side of the cabin

Mounting height: 2.5 meters ~3.0 meters

It must work with the Mobile DVR with such a BSD algorithm module.

Model: JA-MC922

1080P AHD camera, Infrared LED range 25m; Support 12V DC ±10%

Installation site: mounted at the rear side of the cabin

Mounting height: 1.6 meters ~2.0 meters

Model: JA-MC923

Dual lens for front and rear, 1080P AHD camera; 2.1mm lens + 2.1mm lens; Support 12V DC ±10%.

Installation site: Side mirrors

Mounting height: 2.0 meters ~2.5 meters

It must work with the Mobile DVR with such a BSD algorithm module.

The Audio& Visual Alarm with illumination (IP66)

It must work with the BSD cameras.

(IP66, RS485,12V, 5PIN Around aviation G25 connector)

By the AI algorithm, some specific area near the dump truck is determined as a blind spot area, once the pedestrian and vehicles enter that area, the Audio& Visual Alarm will emit a sound and flash alarm or voice prompt immediately.

Blind Spot Detection (BSD) Demonstration

As soon as the alarm is triggered, except for the Audio& Visual Alarm sending out an alarm, the IVMS platform will also generate the BSD report.

Most vehicles are with at least one blind spot, for the dump truck or other heavy-duty commercial vehicles, multiple blind spot cameras may be needed. Let’s Icarvisions tailor the solutions for you.
